100 New References of Valeo E-Performance Brake Pads

Valeo is accelerating its commitment to sustainable and smarter mobility with a major extension of its E-Performance brake pad range.

Specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of electrified vehicles, this brake pad range extension adds 100 new references to the European aftermarket. The new references include some of the market’s most popular models: Citroën C4 III Hybrid, Citroën ë-Berlingo, Jeep Avenger 1.2 Hybrid, Peugeot e-Rifter and Renault Twingo III Electric. With a total of 326 references, Valeo achieves 93% coverage of the electrified European car parc and reaches an additional 4.4 million electrified vehicles across Europe.

A Major Range Extension for the EV Aftermarket

This launch is fully aligned with Valeo’s RED strategy, which focuses on three pillars:

R for Reman: leveraging over 40 years of expertise and one of the widest portfolios of remanufactured products.

E for EV: building on Valeo’s leadership in electrified solutions, with one in three new cars worldwide equipped with Valeo technologies.

D for Dragon: supported by 30 years of O.E. excellence in China, positioning Valeo as a leading aftermarket partner with more than 2,500 part numbers.

Aligned with Valeo’s RED Strategy

Electrified powertrains fundamentally change braking dynamics. The absence of engine noise makes any squeak or vibration immediately noticeable. Vehicle mass is higher due to battery packs and regenerative braking changes how pads interact with discs. Valeo E-Performance pads are engineered around three pillars to address these challenges:

Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) control: A multi-layer acoustic barrier delivers exceptional noise suppression, combining soft friction material, a thermosetting resin layer, and high-performance shims. In rigorous dynamometer testing, Valeo E-Performance achieved 97.8% of stops under 70 dB (AK Noise SAE J2521, Nissan Leaf front axle, 1,500 brake applications).

Braking performance: Adapted friction formulations handle the weight and power demands of electrified vehicles, while enhanced thermal management prevents brake fade. A testing under the AK Master SAE J2522 protocol demonstrated efficiency equal to or better than OE components.

Durability: Because regenerative braking reduces how often pads are physically engaged, standard materials can suffer from corrosion, glazing, or delamination. Valeo’s high-resistance formulation delivers twice the lifespan with significantly less brake dust, while a mechanical retaining technology locks the friction material in place, virtually eliminating delamination risk.

Tailor-Made Engineering for Electrified Vehicles

All references come as a fully equipped kit with all necessary accessories included. With this expansion, Valeo Service reinforces its position as the leading partner for workshops navigating the growing wave of vehicle electrification.

Italy Leads Europe’s Electrified Vehicle Boom
The electrified vehicle market is experiencing unprecedented growth in Italy, creating new opportunities and challenges for the automotive aftermarket. Driven by the introduction of new government incentives, battery electric vehicle (BEV) year-to-date registrations have more than doubled compared with the same period last year, reaching an impressive growth rate of 100.8% (source: New AutoMotive and E-Mobility Europe, May 2026). As the number of electrified vehicles on Italian roads continues to rise, workshops must adapt to new technologies and develop the skills required to service and repair these increasingly complex vehicles. The transition to electrified mobility and the advent of ADAS are reshaping the Italian aftermarket landscape and highlighting the growing importance of specialized training and technical expertise. Furthermore, according to a survey carried out by Valeo, currently, one in two mechanics do not maintain or repair electric vehicles, and 62% do not engage in ADAS maintenance. Yet, since July 2024, all new cars sold in Italy have been required to include mandatory ADAS safety systems as standard, making driver-assistance technologies an increasingly common part of everyday workshop operations. Valeo is committed to supporting the aftermarket beyond just supplying spare parts, helping repair professionals build the technical expertise needed to service the vehicles of today and tomorrow.
An Innovative Training Program
Valeo Tech Academy provides training covering all automotive systems and brands, not just Valeo products, to ensure a comprehensive learning experience across the entire automotive landscape. Marlène Carrias-Iked, Vice-President Strategic Marketing, Digital and Innovation for Valeo Service: « As a leader in electrification and ADAS, Valeo is proud to leverage its expertise to support the growing needs of workshops with the development of electrification and autonomous driving. It is also a standout new technologies program including 50 hours of online pure electric and hybrid vehicles training from security basics to advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting, and 25 hours of ADAS digital training. All sessions can be followed under the form of short capsules (5 to 30 minutes), allowing mechanics to learn at their own pace and at any time of the day. The program also includes prior and post-assessments to ensure measurable skill improvements. The offer is competitively priced and offers the choice to purchase individual modules or subscribe to flexible monthly or yearly plans.
Face to Face Sessions Using Simulators
Valeo’s new EV and Hybrid face-to-face training sessions lean heavily on practical learning with three training levels:

L1: Essentials of Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance

L2: Components and Measurements of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles

L3: Advanced diagnostics for hybrid and electric vehicles

Learning on Educational Simulators At the heart of Valeo’s practical method lies its exclusive low-voltage educational simulator, which enables technicians to practice and experiment without risk. The simulator shows what happens within various components, providing full visibility of internal operations—a feature which would be impossible to obtain on a real high-voltage vehicle. It also reproduces all types of motor technologies for all brands and models, making it both universal and highly realistic. 150 Failure Scenarios The simulator includes 150 failure scenarios to allow trainees to test, diagnose, correct, and apply what they have learned. These failure scenarios include:

Diagnosing complex EV and hybrid issues

Visualizing faults step-by-step

Understanding risks linked to high-voltage systems without any danger

Memorizing correct diagnostic procedures through hands-on repetition

While theoretical learning provides a strong foundation, the real added value comes from simulator-based practice. Training sessions are enriched with photos and videos of real parts, helping participants connect the learning content with the components they handle every day. This hands-on approach has earned Valeo Tech Academy face-to-face sessions a satisfaction score of 9.5/10.
Certifications
Valeo Tech Academy is a ‘Certified Training Organization’, with courses and trainers certified by the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry), which sets the benchmark in the standards for automotive skills globally.
Join Valeo Tech Academy
With up to 60% of workshop time now spent on diagnostics, strengthening technical expertise is a real opportunity to improve efficiency, reduce intervention times, and grow business sustainably. From left to right: Daniel Grub, CEO Partslife; Bernhard Maier Regional Sales Manager Valeo Service DACH; Bastian Mertens, Marketing Director Valeo Service Northern Europe; Claudia Kleinert (Moderator and Keynote Speaker)

A New Recognition
Partslife is a German organization dedicated to promoting legally compliant waste management, recycling, and environmental services across the automotive aftermarket. The award was presented during the Partslife Congress in Vienna on 23 June 2026. This recognition highlights Valeo’s ongoing commitment to expanding its remanufacturing activities and extending reman solutions to increasingly advanced technologies. Both awarded products are part of Valeo’s I Care for the Planet program, which brings together all initiatives aimed at progressively reducing the environmental impact of its aftermarket activities. Remanufacturing is a key pillar of Valeo’s circular economy strategy.
Bringing Reman to Automatic Transmissions
The award-winning Valeo remanufactured dual wet clutch was specifically developed to address a major challenge in the automatic transmission market. It was initially launched for the DQ250 gearbox, which is installed in around five million vehicles across Europe, including 1.2 million vehicles on German roads alone. Until now, when the original clutch failed, workshops and vehicle owners had no alternative but to purchase a brand-new replacement part costing more than €600, excluding labor. Valeo’s reman solution directly addresses this issue, offering workshops and end users an average cost reduction of 25% compared with a new part. What makes this achievement an even greater technical milestone is that Valeo reverse-engineered a non-Valeo technology, developing a restoration process for a highly complex system it did not originally design
Combining Performance with a Lower Environmental Impact
The remanufactured dual wet clutch delivers the same quality and performance as a new OE part while offering a lower environmental impact. Weighing almost 10 kilograms, the clutch enables Valeo to recover and reuse around 90% of its original mass. By recovering valuable materials such as aluminium, steel, and copper, remanufacturing helps preserve natural resources, reduce waste, and support a more circular economy.
Supporting the Circular Economy
The remanufactured dual wet clutch illustrates how remanufacturing is evolving to meet the needs of modern vehicles. Historically associated with simpler products, remanufacturing is now becoming a viable solution for increasingly advanced technologies. This innovation also reinforces Valeo's commitment to expanding its remanufacturing activities and extending reman solutions to increasingly advanced technologies.
Promoting the Circular Economy Along the Value Chain
Unlike manufacturing new parts from scratch, remanufacturing relies entirely on reverse logistics. To keep this circular offer available for the automatic transmission market, the loop must be closed through the recovery and return of used parts, known as cores. Transmission specialists, traditional wholesalers, and workshops all have a vital role to play. By working together, these aftermarket stakeholders can accelerate the adoption of remanufacturing, reduce environmental impact, and contribute to a more circular automotive aftermarket.

Valeo is reinforcing its commitment to precision emission control.

Valeo is reinforcing its commitment to precision emission control.

A New-to-Range Launch for the European Market
Valeo is launching its new range of NOx sensors, designed to meet the growing demands of modern emission management systems. Comprising 100 new-to-range references on the European market, this comprehensive lineup is built to deliver the precision and reliability that today’s workshops and distributors require. The new references also complement Valeo’s existing sensor portfolio and reflect the company’s deep understanding of European fleet composition across a wide variety of makes and models.
Extensive Coverage for Passenger Cars in Europe
With coverage of more than 40 million passenger cars in Europe, Valeo enables distributors and workshops to respond effectively to market needs. This breadth of coverage means fewer gaps in the catalogue and greater confidence that the right part is always at hand whatever the vehicle.
The function of a NOx Sensor
A NOx sensor is an electronic device that measures the concentration of nitrogen oxides (NO) in the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, primarily diesel engines. It is used to monitor and optimize the performance of the exhaust aftertreatment system. The combustion in vehicles produces Nitric oxide (NO), which converts into Nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) when mixed with oxygen (O) at high temperatures. NO₂ is a harmful air pollutant. NOx sensor works in combination with the (SCR) system to reduce the influence of NO₂ pollution.
Technology Designed for Performance and Durability
Valeo NOx sensors have been developed with particular attention to resistance to engine vibrations and high temperatures. These characteristics guarantee optimal performance, even in demanding operating conditions a critical requirement given the extreme environment in which exhaust aftertreatment components must function. Compatible with Euro 6 vehicle applications, they are a key component of exhaust gas management systems. Euro 6 vehicles have at least one NOx sensor, before and after the SCR catalytic. As global emissions regulations continue to tighten, the need for sensors that can keep pace with increasingly strict standards has never been greater. Valeo’s engineering expertise ensures this new range is not only compliant today, but built with the future in mind.
How the NOx Sensor System Operates
The upstream NOx sensor continuously monitors the NOx content of the exhaust gas and sends a signal to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU then calculates the precise urea dose required to neutralise the NOx within the SCR catalyst. The urea injector sprays this calculated amount into the hot exhaust stream, triggering a chemical reaction that converts NOx into harmless nitrogen and water. A downstream NOx sensor verifies the efficiency of this SCR reaction by measuring NOx concentration after the catalyst, allowing the ECU to adjust urea dosing in real time and maintain emissions within regulatory limits. In some applications, a single NOx sensor positioned after the SCR catalyst may be used.
Road-Tested for Real-World Reliability
Valeo NOx sensors are road-tested during 700 hours according to real driving situations to validate the reliability of the sensors. This is not laboratory testing in isolation it reflects the genuine demands placed on sensors during everyday operation across a wide range of conditions and duty cycles. Every sensor in the range undergoes thorough validation to confirm it meets the demands of real-world driving, ensuring the robustness and long-term performance that workshops and their customers depend on.
Concrete Benefits for Professionals and Drivers
The Valeo NOx sensor range delivers a compelling set of advantages:

High-precision real-time measurement for optimal emissions control

Strategic component of modern engine emission control systems

Continuous improvement to meet ever-changing global emissions standards

Tested to exacting quality standards, ensuring robustness, reliability, and long-term performance

Valeo: A True Service Partner for Workshops
Beyond the product itself, Valeo is a true partner for workshops a one-stop-shop supplier with over 2,000 sensors in its portfolio. The Valeo Tech Academy training program is IMI-certified, ensuring recognized, high-quality standards aligned with the expectations of the automotive industry and reinforcing the credibility of technicians’ skills development.
An innovative training approach focused on workshop performance
These programs aim to reduce diagnostic time and strengthen intervention capabilities across all vehicle types, helping professionals better manage complex system interactions and sustainably improve workshop efficiency and profitability. The program begins with short, interactive digital modules, effectively preparing participants for in-person sessions. Then, the in-person sessions propose innovative educational solutions, concrete case studies of workshop entries, and the handling of tools identical to those used by professionals. Deployed regionally, closer to the repairers, they rely on a unique and innovative pedagogical approach based on advanced simulators, enabling: • Visualization of internal components and system interactions • Practice on more than 150 real-life fault scenarios • Training across all vehicle brands and architectures • Use of the same diagnostic tools as in the workshop, in a safe environment This approach allows technicians to accelerate their understanding, gain confidence, and develop operational skills faster than traditional vehicle-based training. Finally, to strengthen the practical application, a follow-up webinar is organized a few weeks after returning to the workshop, offering learners the opportunity to share their experiences and issues with their peers and their trainer. The collaboration between Valeo and LKQ Academy was initiated in February 2026. The enthusiastic response from the first participating technicians highlights the immediate value of the program and its promising future. Discover Tech Academy

Shift to automatic transmission with Valeo’s O.E. expertise. Award-winning systems, reman solutions, and sustainable innovation for modern drivetrains across Europe.

Major changes in the transmission market The automotive market is facing a major shift. As automatic, hybrid, and electric vehicles continue to expand across the European car parc, workshops and distributors are increasingly confronted with complex automatic transmission systems. For more than 90 years, Valeo has been leading the evolution of transmission technologies. From its first clutch in 1932 to today’s advanced automatic and electrified drivetrains, Valeo has continuously adapted to market needs. Today, Valeo automatic transmission technologies are fitted in more than 60 million vehicles worldwide, underlining a long-standing presence in the transmission market. From Clutches to Complete Automatic Systems The global shift from manual to automatic transmissions has fundamentally transformed the technical requirements of the Independent Aftermarket. Today’s professional repairers need integrated, OE-validated systems that maintain the vehicle’s original performance and comfort. A Comprehensive Automatic Transmission System Portfolio Valeo’s automatic range covers today’s key automatic transmission technologies: • Dual-clutch systems, in both dry and wet solutions with associated dual-mass flywheels • Torque converters for smooth torque transfer in automatic transmissions • Electric oil pumps, supporting lubrication and cooling in modern powertrains • Gear-shift and transmission actuators that ensure smooth and reliable gear changes Recognition Through Award-Winning Innovation Valeo’s expertise in automatic transmission technologies is regularly recognized by the automotive industry through major international awards. Previously, Valeo received the Automotive News PACE Award for its Pendulum Dual-Mass Flywheel (DMF) Generation 2, widely regarded as a benchmark for powertrain innovation. This technology improves comfort and durability in hybrid and electric vehicles by controlling noise, vibration, and hysteresis through centrifugal pendulum principles. Its optimized design also contributes to material reduction, in line with Valeo’s long-term carbon neutrality roadmap. Remanufacturing at the Core of the Aftermarket Strategy To ensure complex and material-intensive technologies can also be given a second life, Valeo launched the "I Care for the Planet" program. This initiative is designed to reduce the environmental impact of aftermarket activities, and remanufacturing is a key solution for a more circular economy. Because of the high technical complexity involved, Valeo specifically chose the automatic system to launch its first remanufactured dual wet clutch for passenger cars. By focusing on these high-tech systems, Valeo provides a more affordable solution for the market while drastically reducing the consumption of raw materials (re-use up to 80% of materials) and delivering OE-equivalent performance. This commitment was recently recognized at EQUIP AUTO Paris 2025, where Valeo won the International Automotive Innovation Grand Prix for the remanufactured DQ250 dual wet clutch. Addressing a car parc of approximately five million vehicles in Europe, this award proves that remanufacturing is now a high-tech solution combining OE-level performance with sustainability and value. With over 40 years of remanufacturing experience, Valeo brings industrial expertise to the automatic transmission market. Combining decades of heritage with today’s high-tech solutions, Valeo stands as an augmented partner for the automatic transmission era. Read more about I Care 4 the Planet

However, an IMI forecast in April 2025 estimated that only 67,000+ technicians (around 28% of the workforce) will be EV-qualified in 2025, if current trends continue. With the speed of change accelerating across the aftermarket, upgrading skills has never been more important.
Tech Academy Face-to-Face Training
Unlike most training courses on the market, which cover theory as a first step and practice afterwards, Valeo’s new EV and Hybrid face-to-face training sessions lean heavily on practical learning. This means trainees practice first, experiment second, and finally, work out the theory from their own actions. This practical approach is a tried and tested way to retain new information. Valeo’s Tech Academy EV and Hybrid Face to Face sessions offers three training levels:

L1: Essentials of Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance

L2: Components and Measurements of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles

L3: Advanced diagnostics for hybrid and electric vehicles

Learning on Educational Simulators
At the heart of Valeo’s practical method lies its exclusive low-voltage educational simulator, which enables technicians to practice and experiment without risk. The simulator shows what happens within various components, providing full visibility of internal operations—a feature which would be impossible to obtain on a real high-voltage vehicle. It also reproduces all types of motor technologies for all brands and models, making it both universal and highly realistic.
150 Failure Scenarios
The simulator includes 150 failure scenarios to allow trainees to test, diagnose, correct, and apply what they have learned. These failure scenarios include:

Diagnosing complex EV and hybrid issues

Visualizing faults step-by-step

Understanding risks linked to high-voltage systems without any danger

Memorizing correct diagnostic procedures through hands-on repetition

While theoretical learning provides a strong foundation, the real difference happens on the simulator. Training sessions are also enriched with photos and videos of actual parts, helping participants make connections with components they see on a daily basis. Lightweight and easy to transport, the simulator allows Valeo trainers to bring high-value practical learning directly to technicians across regions.
Real World Experiences of Trainees
During a recent training session, participants were asked for feedback. “Technologies have evolved tremendously in recent years. As an automotive expert, you must always stay up to date,” says Dominique Queroy, Automotive Expert since 1988. “I had never attended a training course using a simulator. It’s incredibly effective for diagnosing a wide range of EV and hybrid situations.” Queroy strongly recommends both the course and the instructors: “The trainers are excellent, and the simulator makes learning by doing both accessible and memorable.” He also highlights the growing importance of EVs in his daily work: battery concerns, new types of failures, and the rapid evolution of systems. Bertrand Fresneau, an Automotive Expert from Lidéo Orléans, found the simulator similarly powerful.“It allows you to visualize real operations even without having a car available. You can clearly see different assemblies and technologies used in EVs.” Fresneau adds “electric vehicles evolve much faster than combustion engines, so continuous training is essential. This helps us guide technicians in the workshop, identify failure points, and quickly understand the origin of malfunctions”.
Recognised and Rewarded by Professionals
Achieving a 9.5/10 satisfaction score, Valeo Tech Academy empowers professionals to diagnose faster, reinforce their expertise, and build long-term business performance. By combining cutting-edge technical content with practical learning on simulators, it gives repairers the confidence to take on electrified vehicles and complex diagnostics with greater ease and accuracy. In a market undergoing rapid transformation, Valeo Tech Academy stands as a trusted partner, helping workshops turn new technological challenges into real growth opportunities. Read more

Designed to meet the demands of modern automotive systems, Valeo’s wide range of high-quality freewheel pulleys are compatible across numerous applications. Manufactured with premium materials, Valeo's pulleys undergo rigorous tests to ensure the highest quality and long-lasting performance.
Valeo’s offer covers all current technologies—from Overrunning Alternator Pulleys (OAP) to Overrunning Alternator Decouplers (OAD)—including the latest innovations on the market.
With more than 250 part numbers covering approximately 200,000 vehicles, Valeo's freewheel pulleys are designed to fit a wide range of models, making integration and replacement easy.

What Freewheel Pulleys Do

Freewheel pulleys are essential components of the alternator and play a critical role in ensuring the longevity and efficiency of a vehicle’s belt drive, including the belt and the tensioner.

The primary function of the freewheel pulley is to decouple the alternator from the crankshaft, thereby reducing stress on the belt drive system and enabling smoother engine operation.
By allowing the alternator rotor to spin freely when the engine slows down or stops, the freewheel pulley improves efficiency of the belt system and avoids belt flutter.

Its three primary benefits can be described as:

Reduced vibrations and noise

Increased lifespan of the alternator, belt, and tensioner

Enhanced overall engine operation

Two Types of Freewheel Pulleys

Valeo’s Overrunning Alternator Pulley (OAP) and Overrunning Alternator Decoupler (OAD) are both examples of essential components of the complete alternator system.

These two freewheel pulleys, however, differ in their specifications and characteristics:

OAP (Overrunning Alternator Pulley): Spins freely in one direction and immediately locks in the opposite direction.

OAD (Overrunning Alternator Decoupler): Rotates freely in one direction and offers a “spring-like” resistance in the other direction.

Both consist of a pulley with an outer diameter suitable for a poly-V belt (drive), a one-way clutch unit with bearing supports, an inner ring, two seals, and a plastic end cover.

Smoother Driving Experience

For a smooth and efficient driving experience, explore Valeo’s complete range of freewheel pulleys, engineered for optimal fit and long-lasting durability.

Valeo’s O.E.-quality freewheel pulleys enhance alternator efficiency, reduce vibrations, and support smoother engine performance across modern vehicles.
