Alternator Warranty Case Diagnosis Tool

<ol>
	<li>Alternator no charge and the indicator alight due to polarity inverted.</li>
</ol>

Test Conditions : Use a multimeter. Start the engine and test the alternator by accelerating in several taken back and noticing that the level of charge does not move.

Defect Origin : Arc-welding on the car without unplugging the battery. Handling mistake with the battery or a charger (polarities inverted).

Valeo Advice :&nbsp;

<ol>
	<li>Replace alternator with new part due to alternator diode already damage or doing the testing as below instructions.</li>
</ol>

2. Always unplug the battery connection before the arc welding activities in the vehicle (started from negative terminal and then positive terminal).

Alternator no charge and the indicator alight due to oil or grease contamination.

Test Conditions : Use a multimeter. Start the engine and test the alternator by accelerating in several taken back and noticing that the level of charge does not move.

 
Defect Origin : There is a leak of diesel oil on a pipe. There is an engine oil leak near the alternator. These increase the worn of the brushes.

Valeo Advice : During replacement of an alternator, stop the leak.

3. Noisy alternator.

Test Conditions : Start the engine and test the alternator by accelerating in several taken back and noticing that the level of noise increase.

Defect Origin : The damages is due to a bad fitting practice.No use the correct tools damaging the core and the set stator/rotor.

&nbsp;

Valeo Advice : Have the good fitting practice and do not use an inappropriate tool to fit the belt.

4. Noisy Alternator due to Radial run out - Bent Pulley.

Test Conditions : Start the engine and test the alternator by accelerating in several taken back and noticing that the level of noise increase.

Defect Origin : The damages is due to a bad fitting practice.No use the correct tools, bent the pulley. Dropped down.

5. Alternator is partially charging or not at all impact on the core.

Test Conditions : Battery is drained, no alternator load when measured fixed in, vehicle stop, battery light on the dashboard, or starter does not turn the engine.

Defect Origin : Insufficient torque on terminal nut when fitting to vehicle. Found mark electrical flashing, overheating or burn, and material of plastic cover in some cases could be melted.

Valeo Advice : Have the good fitting practice with proper tool and torque value.
