Pressure Switches Compressors & Air Conditioning for Cars

Pressure Switches

The pressure switch is a safety device for the car A/C loop located on the high-pressure side of the loop.

The compressor pressure switch monitors the pressure level of the A/C loop, enabling or disabling the car compressor according to two pressure thresholds.

An additional circuit controls the cooling fan, securing the condensation process by forcing airflow through the condenser.

The pressure switch has a few different roles:

  • It monitors the loop’s pressure
  • It detects when pressure is too low (P1 2 bars)
  • It detects when pressure is too high (P2 > 27 to 32 bars)
  • It includes an additional threshold to activate the maximum cooling fan speed (P3 > 16 bars)
