Italy Leads Europe’s Electrified Vehicle Boom

The electrified vehicle market is experiencing unprecedented growth in Italy, creating new opportunities and challenges for the automotive aftermarket. Driven by the introduction of new government incentives, battery electric vehicle (BEV) year-to-date registrations have more than doubled compared with the same period last year, reaching an impressive growth rate of 100.8% (source: New AutoMotive and E-Mobility Europe, May 2026).
As the number of electrified vehicles on Italian roads continues to rise, workshops must adapt to new technologies and develop the skills required to service and repair these increasingly complex vehicles. 
The transition to electrified mobility and the advent of ADAS are reshaping the Italian aftermarket landscape and highlighting the growing importance of specialized training and technical expertise.
Furthermore, according to a survey carried out by Valeo, currently, one in two mechanics do not maintain or repair electric vehicles, and 62% do not engage in ADAS maintenance. Yet, since July 2024, all new cars sold in Italy have been required to include mandatory ADAS safety systems as standard, making driver-assistance technologies an increasingly common part of everyday workshop operations.

State-of-the-Art Digital Experience

Valeo Tech Academy is an extensive digital program with 45 hours dedicated to maintenance and repair solutions on current technologies as they make the majority of workshop entries today. It is also a standout new technologies program including 50 hours of online pure electric and hybrid vehicles training from security basics to advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting, and 25 hours of ADAS  digital training.
All sessions can be followed under the form of short capsules (5 to 30 minutes), allowing mechanics to learn at their own pace and at any time of the day. The program also includes prior and post-assessments to ensure measurable skill improvements.
The offer is competitively priced and offers the choice to purchase individual modules or subscribe to flexible monthly or yearly plans.

Face to Face Sessions Using Simulators

Valeo’s new EV and Hybrid face-to-face training sessions lean heavily on practical learning with three training levels:
 

• L1: Essentials of Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance
• L2: Components and Measurements of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles
• L3: Advanced diagnostics for hybrid and electric vehicles

Learning on Educational Simulators

At the heart of Valeo’s practical method lies its exclusive low-voltage educational simulator, which enables technicians to practice and experiment without risk.

The simulator shows what happens within various components, providing full visibility of internal operations—a feature which would be impossible to obtain on a real high-voltage vehicle. It also reproduces all types of motor technologies for all brands and models, making it both universal and highly realistic.

150 Failure Scenarios

The simulator includes 150 failure scenarios to allow trainees to test, diagnose, correct, and apply what they have learned. These failure scenarios include:
 

• Diagnosing complex EV and hybrid issues
• Visualizing faults step-by-step
• Understanding risks linked to high-voltage systems without any danger
• Memorizing correct diagnostic procedures through hands-on repetition

While theoretical learning provides a strong foundation, the real added value comes from simulator-based practice. Training sessions are enriched with photos and videos of real parts, helping participants connect the learning content with the components they handle every day. This hands-on approach has earned Valeo Tech Academy face-to-face sessions a satisfaction score of  9.5/10.
